MOM & BABY: RAINY DAYS

Lately it feels like it's been raining every other day here in Louisiana (maybe because the seasons are changing? Hmm..) and although watching the rainfall can be quite peaceful, for a baby or toddler it could put a damper on their day.

My toddler (19 mos) in particular, would prefer being outside rain or shine but she's learning to love our rainy days activities.

Being creative doesn't have to cost you a fortune.

Some of my daughters favorite activities are pretty simple & don't even include supplies!

For Example:

Hide & Seek! - This one's a thriller for kids her age :)

Pots & Pans Band – If you don't mind the few minutes of noise lol! A quieter (but maybe messier) option would be letting them sort through Tupperware. Toddlers love it!

Here are a few things my daughter and I do on those rainy days:

Dance Party – My girl LOVES music. Kids in general love dancing and in doing so they learn more about their bodies, rhythm and sounds! And meanwhile, us moms get a good exercise in ;)

Make Healthy Smoothies – This has become an everyday thing for my daughter and I. She gets to learn about different fruit and vegetables and why/how they're good for the body! She loves to help put in the ingredients, as well. This a fun way to bond with your kids all while instilling a healthy lifestyle.

Reading/ Puppet Play – Reading is an important hobby to teach our children and should be done everyday, if possible. When my daughter and I are rained in we like to pick out a book and make a craft that goes along with that story or reenact the story with puppets/dolls. Doing this with your child will broaden up their vocabulary, get their imaginations going and really get them talking!

Build A Fort – When my husband and I first built a fort out of sheets and pillows, our little one wanted to stay in it all evening, she loved it so much! We popped some popcorn and watched an animated movie on Netflix; time well spent!

Get Crafty! - Letting my kid play with paint, tissue paper and tape can be quite the sight (Heads up, keep the camera close by!).

She loves getting creative, and it makes for a good distraction while I cook or clean.

Create Busy Bags! Vanessa from seevanessacraft.com has a secret weapon for keeping toddlers and kids of all ages entertained and you'll want to check it out.

I hope you enjoyed this post! I am a stay at home mom of one and my opinions/ suggestions come from my personal experience. Things might be different for mother's of multiple children or mom's who work, but if you have tips of your own you'd like to share please leave a comment below! :)

Happy Cuddling!
